Darrelle Revis hangs up on popular radio host Mike Francesa

Latest NFL News and Commentary

On Friday afternoon in a call-in with WFAN’s Mike Francesa, Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis had his interview cut short by a member of the Jets media relations staff. Francesa was incessantly asking Revis about his 100-yard interception of Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore, where Revis seemed to get away with holding and downfield contact on intended target Brandon Marshall.

Francesa, a known Jet hater and know it all,  kept harrassing Revis about that one play, trying to get the Pro Bowl cornerback to concede that he got away with one.

Several minutes before the exchange got heated, Francesa said that Revis was “in my estimation, the best defensive player in the league.” It went sour after that in an interview that aired live not just on WFAN but nationally on the YES Network:

Francesa: “You are still the only one in the world who doesn’t think that was a penalty.”

Revis: “I don’t care! I don’t care what everybody thinks! I don’t care what you think, I don’t care what the whole world thinks.”

What followed then was more testy interchange, resulting in a Jets spokesman getting on the line and saying “Darrelle, Darrelle stop.”

Francesa has had a rocky relationship with the Jets, dating back to his criticism of Jets head coach Rex Ryan. But Francesa and Revis have always been cordial, so the fact that he kept harassing Revis was a bit of a surprise. After being interrupted by the Jets staffer, Revis fired a GREAT  closing shot at the radio host.

“This is why I don’t want to get interviewed by him,” Revis said. “Whatever dude.”

A moment later, Revis said “Bye” and hung up the phone. Francesa, shocked by the outburst and the fact that a member of the Jets media relations staff interrupted his interview, was none too pleased by the sound of the dial tone.

“This is why I don’t talk to the Jets. I’ll tell you right now I was only kidding around with him,” Francesca said.

YEAH RIGHT Francesa.  Your a Giant fan and cant stand the Jets.  Plaxico shoots himself and you practically brushed it under the run and had nothing to do with the Giants.  Anything that happens to a Jet player, you connstantly blame the organization.

Revis Signs New Deal

Latest NFL News and Commentary

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — After a five-week holdout, Darrelle Revis returned to the New York Jets Monday and was greeted  by his teammates.

After reconnecting with his teammates, Revis repaired to an upstairs board room, where he was to sign his four-year, $46 million contract, culminating a seven-month odyssey that began when the Jets told Revis after the season they wanted to re-work his contract.

Just like that, the black cloud over the Jets was gone. Now they can get on with the business of trying to reach the Super Bowl.
