Week 5’s Best Fantasy Football Waiver Wire & Free Agent Finds

Week 5’s Best Fantasy Football Waiver Wire & Free Agent Finds

Going into week 5 , we have another round of potential injuries from Cam Newton, Carson Palmer, to Eric Decker, Gronk and Edelman.  This week, with more teams on a bye, many fantasy owners will be scanning the waiver wires or trying to grab free agents.  Let’s take a look at some streaming fantasy options this week with matchups we can exploit.

Brian Hoyer, QB, Chicago Bears

If you in need of a quarterback this week, this is a guy I recommended last week along with Dak Prescott.  Hoyer has spread the ball around nicely and put up back-to-back 300 yards passing games and thrown two touchdowns in both games. This week he gets the Colts who give up an average of 277 passing yards per game. Hoyer will put up another good game.  Don’t forget him in daily fantasy this week as well.

Carson Wentz, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Im a bit surprised, but after 3 good games everyone is jumping on the Wentz train.  Coming off a bye week, Wentz and the Eagles get a nice match up in Week 5 against Detroit. Wentz’s fantasy number are getting better each week and is nice add against a weak Detroit defense.

Running Back

Wendell Smallwood, Philadelphia Eagles

Even if Ryan Mathews  returns to the lineup on Sunday, after Smallwood’s performance in Week 3 he should still get some touches this week against the Detroit Lions. While Mathews is the more productive fantasy running back, he still seemed touchdown dependent.  Smallwood, however,  looked more dynamic  gaining 79 yards on 17 carries in week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wide Receiver

Dontrelle Inman, WR, San Diego Chargers

Inman’s snap count finally started playing dividends. After leading the Chargers in snaps played in the first three games, he finally put up some production grabbing seven for 120 yards and a touchdown. With the absence of Allen and Danny Woodhead, San Diego has a lot of targets to that someone needs to get. Definitely add Inman this week in you need to stream a WR.

Sammie Coates, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers

As I mentioned in the preseason,  Coates will be the Steelers deep threat.   Now he has 5 receptions over 40 yards so far season.  With Bell and Brown around, Coates has a low ceiling, but if you need high upside, the sky’s the limit!

Cole Beasley, WR, Dallas Cowboys

I like fantasy players that are consistent so we know what we will get out of them.  Beasley has been very consistent so far this season.  The other plus is that his targets are not dependent on Dez Bryant’s status.  He averages 7 targets per game and has been putting up at least 66 yards a game.

Tight end

Cameron Brate, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Another guy we mentioned last week, Brate has seen his fantasy relevance increase ever since the Buc’s released Austin Seferian-Jenkins.  Winston has been relying on Brate to move the chains.  He seeing about 20% of the target share the last few weeks and is averaging about 10 yards per catch.  He also has a TD in each of the last 2 games, so his redzone production should increase as well.  Brate is a nice pickup whether you need a streamer or not.
