Free Agent Finds – Week 5 Fantasy Waiver Wire Pickups
Waiver-wire news changes constantly throughout the week between injuries and depth-chart changes. Follow me on Twitter by clicking on the Twitter link to stay connected and I’ll keep you updated on the latest waiver wire prospects. Let’s take a look at the best fantasy roster pickups for this week heading into Week 5.
Brandon Le Fell, WR, New England Patriots
With the big meltdown in Kansas City on Monday night, the Patriots may start to realize they actually need to throw to this guy at some point. In fact Tom Brady said in the preseason, it’s nice to finally have a big target like him to throw to.
Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Minnesota Vikings
Quarterbacks that run are great for Fantasy. In Week 4 he rushed for a touchdown and scored 23.38 fantasy points against the Falcons. He did injure ankle late in the game, so keep an eye out to see if he will play Week 5.
Darrin Reaves, RB, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers backfield has been devastated by injuries. DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert are all injured. Reaves could end up getting most of the touches against the Chicago Bears in Week 5.
Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants
Eli made quite an improvement from week one. He’s ran the new Giants offense and was very precise and the offensive line gave him time to throw. Now in Week 5 he gets the Atlanta Falcons defense, that has been playing very poorly and gave up a over 40 points to a rookie quarterback in Bridgewater. Eli is a potential plug-and-play streamer.
Eddie Royal, WR, San Diego Chargers
I bet your saying, not again. Its like déjà vu. Royal scored five combined TDs in Weeks 1 and 2 of 2013, and everybody was trying to grab him off the waiver wire. As it turned out it was a waste of a perfectly good waive pick as he scored just three more TD’s all season. So here we are again what to do after seeing Royal over these past two weeks make nine catches for 147 yards and four TDs.
I can’t justify chasing him again. I do believe he has a good week this week as the Jets give up catches to WR2’s.
Philadelphia Eagles Defense
Their defensive front , Trent Cole, Fletcher Cox and Cedric Thornton has been playing well, but I don’t love the secondary. They have been putting up some good Fantasy number so worth a look and a decent matchup this week.
Louis Murphy, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Mike Evans started to look good against the Steelers on Sunday, catching a TD before suffering a groin injury that will cause him to miss 2 games. Murphy filled in for Evans by making six grabs for 99 yards, including one that set up Tampa’s winning score. I wouldn’t expect alot, but the Bucs do face the New Orleans Saints who could not stop Tony Romo in week 4.
Jarius Wright, WR, Minnesota Vikings
Definitely a deeper league pickup, Wright barely plays in two-WR sets and is strictly a slot receiver, but was a Bridgewater favorite on Sunday when he caught eight passes for 132 yards. Wright and Teddy Bridgewater seemed to have some kind of connection but it was more likely that it presented Bridgewater with a good matchup.
